SUBJECT:    Faculty, Researchers, and Graduate Students Dislocated by Hurricane Katrina

My office has received a number of calls from across campus asking how to locate Faculty, Researchers, Postdocs, or Graduate Students whose labs may have been damaged or destroyed by Katrina. Many of you have generously offered to make space available in your own facilities.

With regard to faculty, other researchers, and postdocs, the University does not have a formal plan to respond. Individual faculty members, departments, and ORUs are free to make their own arrangements. Below is one website that is actively working to match up faculty and researchers, whose work has been disrupted by the hurricane, with labs and institutions across the country.

Please be sure to consult with your department business office prior to making an offer to host a visitor.

If you are interested in discussing arrangements for graduate students, please contact Tim Johnston, Assistant Dean, extension x4-3871, email address: tjohnston@ucsd.edu

For questions regarding postdoctoral scholars, please call Jennifer Oh, Postdoctoral Scholar Affairs, extension x4-6632, email address: jmoh@ucsd.edu.
