SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT - CITY OF SAN DIEGO LA JOLLA
VILLAGE DRIVE WIDENING PROJECT

Another phase of construction by the City of San Diego of a major road construction project on La Jolla Village Drive will begin soon. Beginning as early as Monday, September 26, 2005, the ramp from Gilman Drive to westbound La Jolla Village Drive will be closed. The closure will last through November 2005. The reconstruction work on the ramp from eastbound La Jolla Village Drive to Gilman Drive, which had been previously closed, is now complete and the ramp has been re-opened.

The overall project will increase the number of lanes on La Jolla Village Drive from the Interstate 5 freeway to Expedition Way/Revelle College Drive. The existing street will be widened in some areas and the existing median area will be narrowed in others in order to provide the additional travel lanes. The project includes the widening of the existing La Jolla Village Drive overcrossing of Gilman Drive.

Construction for the complete project is expected to continue through December 2005. The improvements will result in improved traffic circulation and safety in the area.

The City of San Diego has established a "project hotline" number (858-552-0116) for questions or comments about the project.
