Commemoration of September 11, 2001

On Friday, September 9, the University will commemorate the tragic events of September 11, 2001 with a few moments of silence and reflection. The brief ceremony will be held from 11:55 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in front of the commemorative plaque in the southwest corner of Warren Mall near the base of the "Snake Path." The UCSD Veterans Association will co-host the program that will feature a moment of silence and ringing of the bells of the carillon at Geisel library.

In recognition of this commemoration ceremony, I am approving 30 minutes of administrative leave with pay so employees may attend the event. Therefore, supervisors are encouraged to grant employees 30 minutes of administrative leave to attend when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties.
