SUBJECT:    Search for the Vice Chancellor-Research

On November 4, 2005, a campus notice from SVC Chandler announced the search for the Vice Chancellor-Research and invited nominations and applications for this position. I am writing to remind you that the Search Committee for the Vice Chancellor-Research would like to receive nominations and applications by FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2006, as the committee will begin reviewing candidates later this month.

The recruitment for the Vice Chancellor-Research is being conducted as a nationwide search. Successful candidates should have some prior experience in academic administration and must have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured senior professor in one of UCSD's academic appointments. Copies of SVC Chandler's campus announcement, the position description, required qualifications, and an organization chart are posted on the Academic Affairs web site:

Nominations will be confidential, and it is not necessary to seek prior consent of the potential candidate.
