SUBJECT:    UCSD Guide to Flexible Work Arrangements for Staff

I am pleased to announce the implementation of the UCSD Guide to Flexible Work Arrangements for Staff effective June 1, 2006. This guide provides a framework for discussions among employees, supervisors and managers, as well as a template for implementing flexible work arrangements.

Flexible work arrangements, such as telecommuting and flextime, can be highly beneficial for the University and the individual. Flexible work arrangements have been shown to improve employee morale, increase commitment and productivity, reduce absenteeism and turnover, and enhance customer satisfaction and recruitment efforts.

The University supports flexible work arrangements to help balance work and personal responsibilities.
