SUBJECT:    Appointment of Academic Integrity Coordinator

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Tricia Bertram Gallant will assume the newly-created position of Academic Integrity Coordinator on or before August 1, 2006.

Dr. Bertram Gallant comes to us from the University of San Diego where she has served, since 2001, as an Adjunct Faculty member, Administrative Fellow (Provost’s Office), Leadership Advisor in Residence Life, and Coordinator of Global Education in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences. Prior to that, she served for five years as a Cooperative Education Coordinator at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

In her role as Academic Integrity Coordinator, Dr. Bertram Gallant will work closely with the Academic Senate, the College Deans of Student Affairs, and faculty in the administration of the Academic Integrity Policy, assist in educating the campus community on academic dishonesty policies, and play an important role in support of UCSD’s high standards of academic integrity. Dr. Bertram Gallant has been active in the national academic integrity community as a board member for the International Center for Academic Integrity (2003-2006) housed at Duke University.

Dr. Bertram Gallant received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Science in Adult Education from the University of Guelph, and her doctorate in Leadership Studies (with a specialization in Higher Education Administration) from the University of San Diego. Her dissertation was entitled “Reconsidering Academic Dishonesty: A Critical Investigation of a Complex Organizational Problem.”

Dr. Bertram Gallant will be located in the Office of the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs at 112 University Center. I hope that you will join me in welcoming her to the campus upon her arrival this summer.
