KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF (including UCSD Medical Center)
According to University of California personnel policy for staff members, the performance of each employee shall be appraised annually in writing, or more frequently, by the employee's immediate supervisor in accordance with local procedures. Therefore, this notice is intended to encourage and affirm the requirement for performance management and annual written appraisals.
In particular, the UCSD annual performance appraisal process provides a means of measuring and enhancing individual performance and fostering employee development. In support of the objectives, various appraisal models are available for use by supervisors and customized models have also been approved to assess the performance of staff employees.

Beginning with the current review cycle, performance appraisals for designated supervisors and managers must incorporate the new UCSD Standards for Effective Supervision, regardless of the model being used. These standards are available on Blink at http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/supervisorstandards
