ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    UCSD Open House—Save the Date!

I am pleased to announce that UCSD will hold an Open House on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the upper campus.

This exciting campus tradition gives us an opportunity to invite the entire San Diego community—as well as our own faculty, staff, students and their families—to explore our campus and sample a wide array of activities taking place at UCSD. The theme selected by the planning committee is UCSD Rocks! -- symbolized by our “Bear” of rocks in the Calit2/Engineering quad, one of the famous sculptures from the Stuart Collection.

Further expanding the theme will be activities such as rock climbing, rock painting and rock bands. Other activities include a Kids Zone, Job Fair, faculty research demonstrations and health care information. Tours of the campus will be offered for prospective students and their families.

We need you for this event. I encourage you to be part of the Open House “family” by getting involved as a volunteer - you will work hard, but have fun. Co-chairs for the event are Mark Cunningham, Housing and Dining; Judy Lane, Special Events and Protocol; and Cindy Clark, Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Please contact one of them if you would like to volunteer or if you have suggestions for departmental activities. For their contact information and for future information, please visit the Open House web site at http://openhouse.ucsd.edu.

Please join us on October 21 and be a part of this opportunity to showcase UCSD to the University community of San Diego friends and neighbors.
