Farewell Reception for Vice Chancellor Edward Holmes

Please join me on September 15 at a reception to honor Vice Chancellor Edward Holmes. The reception will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Leichtag Lobby and Lawn at the School of Medicine.

Ed has been Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine since 2000. His contributions to UC San Diego are vast and invaluable. He oversaw the launch of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the opening of the Moores UCSD Cancer Center and the expansion of the Shiley Eye Center. He led UCSD Medical Center’s long-range planning effort by recruiting top-notch department chairs and administrators, and he has built cross-campus and multi-institutional partnerships, as well as international collaborations.

Ed is departing UC San Diego to join the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore, where he’ll serve as the Executive Deputy Chairman for Clinical and Translational Sciences at the Biomedical Research Council of Singapore and Lien Ying Chow Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. Ed will continue to be an effective partner in international outreach and will help build bridges between Asia and UC San Diego.
