ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
Today marks the soft launch of our dynamic new Web site for UCSD (http://www.ucsd.edu), which will be officially unveiled in January 2008, when our students return for the Winter quarter. This is the first time UCSD has presented a new face on the Web since the former site was launched in 2001. The new site utilizes the latest Web technology and provides users with greatly improved navigability and functionality and a significantly enhanced graphic interface.
The modern new face of UCSD, in the works for many months, is the result of substantial research and usability testing and marks the most comprehensive revamp ever of the UC San Diego Web site. Two campuswide committees worked diligently over the last year in building, testing, programming and executing the new site. We are very grateful to the many members of these committees who, along with other campus staff, have dedicated so much time and effort to this important initiative.
The new ucsd.edu features a user-centric design that moves people seamlessly through UCSD’s Webspace and improves the online experiences of the site’s approximately 1.5 million monthly visitors. Upgrades to the new Web site include a bread crumb line that makes it easier for visitors to navigate the entire site, and clean new layouts and fresh color schemes that create a more attractive and dynamic Web experience.
UCSD’s more vibrant Web presence will better reflect the university’s commitment to innovation and learning and greatly enhance the ability of site visitors to learn about the latest activities and events in the UCSD world. It is also a work in progress that will be updated and refined on a continual basis in the future.
