SUBJECT:    FBI's Continuing Investigation of Suspicious Object

As an update, I would like the UCSD community to be aware that the investigation is on-going to identify the person(s) responsible for the fake bomb that was found on Wednesday in the Leichtag Building at the School of Medicine. The Campus Police Department is working closely with the San Diego Police Department and the FBI on the on-going investigation. Click on

There is no current or increased need for alarm or concern, and we need the campus community to stay specifically focused on our work here at the University which is teaching, learning, research, and service. However, we do have power through our tight knit campus community to support our law enforcement team. Therefore, we are asking that you be conscious of your surroundings, report any suspicious activity, and if you feel you have seen or heard any information that could assist the investigation in identifying who put this object on the campus, please contact the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force at (858) 565-1255 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS (8477).
