SUBJECT:    Fourth Annual Ride 4 AIDS Bike Ride

UCSD's AIDS Research Institute invites riders to join in the fourth annual Ride 4 AIDS, which will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2007. Chancellor Mary Anne Fox will be on hand to signal the start of the first two rides of the day.

This one-day HIV/AIDS benefit event takes place along San Diego's scenic waterfront. Proceeds from the bike ride will go to the UCSD School of Medicine's AIDS Research Institute (ARI) and to "Being Alive San Diego," a non-profit support and service organization for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Participants are offered three options with three different starting times:

* The 10-mile flat route starts at 9 a.m. from Spanish Landing and Harbor Island to Seaport Village and back.

* The 25-mile route, starting at 8 a.m., includes the 10-mile route with the addition of a hilly bike loop up to the Cabrillo National Monument and back.

* The 50-mile route, starting at 7 a.m., includes mixed terrain as cyclists travel to Cabrillo National Monument, Mission Bay, up to the UCSD/Torrey Pines area and back.

Fees for the bike ride are $25 for 10 miles, $30 for 25 miles, and $35 for 50 miles; $10 less for riders age 8 to 17.

Registration information is available at: http://www.ride4aids.net or by calling 619-291-1400.
