ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (including UCSD Medical Center)
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
Please join me on Friday, June 8, at a farewell reception honoring Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs (SVCAA) Marsha Chandler. The reception will be held from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club.
Marsha has served as SVCAA since coming to UC San Diego in 1997. She has played a major role in UCSD’s dramatic trajectory to the forefront of U.S. universities. The campus has benefited enormously from Marsha’s vision and leadership.
During her tenure, in strong partnership with the Academic Senate, many important new ventures were undertaken, most notably the Rady School of Management, the Sixth College, and the Institute for International, Comparative, and Area Studies (IICAS). A vast array of graduate and undergraduate programs were also established with her support. In addition, Marsha created a wide range of initiatives that have had a large and positive impact in faculty recruitment and retention.
Marsha has enabled the university to make prudent academic planning decisions, without sacrificing the quality of our academic programs. She has also been a strong advocate of interdisciplinary collaboration, breaking down barriers to stimulate cooperation across UCSD’s divisions and schools. She has also developed strong ties with San Diego’s leaders, serving as a liaison between the university and the community.
The reception is an opportunity for us to thank Marsha Chandler for her service to UCSD and wish her well in her new position at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. If you have any questions about the reception, you may call (858) 534-6386.
