Special Meeting of the Representative Assembly, May 10, 2007

Dear Colleagues:

A Special Meeting of the Representative Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Noon in Conference Room 111A, Chancellor's Complex. This meeting is called in accordance with Divisional Bylaw 82(C)(2) in response to a written request of 25 or more members of the San Diego Division. The Notice of Special Meeting (agenda) and all pertinent documents may be found on the Senate's Web page at:

At the Special Meeting, the Assembly will consider The Regents' Proposed Item RE-89, Adoption of Policy Restricting University Acceptance of Funding from the Tobacco Industry. This issue has been, and continues to be, a controversial one. A discussion on this issue was held at the April 24 Representative Assembly meeting, but no action could be taken as no quorum remained. Subsequently, I received a written request for a Special Meeting to consider RE-89.
