Effective immediately, the Student Safety Awareness and Sexual Assault Resource Center will be known as the Sexual Assault & Violence Prevention Resource Center. This name more clearly reflects the role of the Resource Center to students. Within Student Affairs, the department reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Health and Wellness.
Established in 1988, the Sexual Assault & Violence Prevention Resource Center is the studentsí primary resource for educational prevention programs on sexual assault, rape, dating violence and stalking. The staff offer a variety of outreach programs, including co-sponsoring the Rape Aggression Defense self-defense class and coordinating the annual Lighting Survey Walks.
The Sexual Assault & Violence Prevention Resource Center provides supportive services to students who have been victims of violent crimes. Staff provides crisis intervention, accompaniment to the police, hospital and/or judicial process, individual and group counseling and on-campus advocacy.
