ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
I am pleased to announce the formation of a new Department of NanoEngineering (NE) within the Jacobs School of Engineering, effective July 1, 2007. The creation of the NanoEngineering Department is strongly supported by Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and me and follows consultation with the Academic Senate, General Campus Deans, and the Vice Chancellors of Health Sciences and Marine Sciences.
The Department of NanoEngineering will cover a broad range of nanotechnology areas, with a special focus in biomedical nanotechnology, and will serve as the new administrative home of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemical Engineering. I am confident that the campus can look forward to a vibrant future for this new department, and I hope you will join me and Chancellor Fox in extending best wishes to their faculty, staff, and students.
