POLICY AND PROCEDURE MANUAL HOLDERS
I am pleased to announce the revision of Policy and Procedure Manual Section 230-20, Appointment of Academic Personnel, which is effective retroactively to July 1, 2007.
The revision clarifies the content and significantly improves the
presentation of UCSD's academic appointment policy. The revised policy
and updated supporting documents encompass suggestions from the
Academic Senate, including the Committee on Academic Personnel (CAP)
and the Committee on Affirmative Action and Diversity (CAAD), as well as
other members of the campus community. A summary of the major revisions

At the recommendation of CAAD, the packet now includes A section in which academic appointees may highlight information on diversity-related service activities. CAAD has developed a list of examples of diversity service which is currently under review by the Senate.
The Biography/Bibliography packet and a revised worksheet for Departmental use in preparing academic appointment files are available on the Academic Personnel Web site. Updated sample solicitation letters and updated instructions for preparing academic appointment files will be available on the Academic Personnel Web site in the near future.
