SUBJECT:    Campus Alert

UCSD Police are investigating a report of a sexual battery (groping) in the eucalyptus grove between Library Walk and the Sun God, near the Student Health Center. The incident occurred about 6:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8.

An unidentified male approached a female student from behind and grabbed her buttock and groin area. The student turned around and saw a college-age male with an average build, wearing a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt and loose fitting jeans, running from the area.

This incident and suspect are similar to sexual battery cases in the University Towne Center area being investigated by the San Diego Police Department. At this time there is no apparent link between these crimes and the rape that occurred at Mesa Housing on November 7, 2008.

If you have any information regarding this crime or the identity of the suspect, please call the UCSD Police Department at 858-534-4357.
