I am happy to invite you to a 30 minute talk by Irwin Jacobs, founder and chairman of Qualcomm, at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26th at the Price Center Theatre. Dr. Jacobs' will serve as the keynote speaker for Sharecase 2008, UC San Diego's annual event that focuses on how technology can be used to improve our working environment. The subject of his presentation will be "The Ubiquitous Cell Phone and Its Evolving Impact." Irwin Jacobs served as a professor of computer science and engineering at UC San Diego, and was co-founder, president, CEO and chairman of Linkabit Corporation. More than 35 San Diego telecommunications companies, including Qualcomm, trace their roots back to Linkabit. Dr. Jacobs and his wife Joan have provided generous support to UC San Diego over the years, including support to the Jacobs School of Engineering, named in their honor.
