ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Graduate Student Awards

As part of Senior Week and the All Campus Graduation Celebrations, "Celebrate OUR UCSD," Student Affairs is recognizing two remarkable students who have earned recognition in the UC San Diego community for their outstanding academic and leadership performance and for enhancing the student experience at UC San Diego. One award will be given to an outstanding graduating undergraduate student and another to an outstanding graduating graduate or professional student. High academic performance and participation in student organizations will be important, but the primary purpose of the awards is to honor two students who have earned the admiration of the UC San Diego community for exceptional contributions to university life and who have generously served the university. Each student will receive a $1000 award, a plaque commemorating their accomplishments, and a lifetime membership to the UC San Diego Alumni Association. They will also be honored amongst their peers at the All Campus Graduation Celebration on Thursday, June 19, 2008, which will feature keynote speaker Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

It is my hope to have this award flourish and become a tradition at UC San Diego. We will honor the most outstanding graduating students who are committed to the student experience at UC San Diego, are academically accomplished, are the leaders of the present and will become the leaders of our alumni in the future.

I encourage you to nominate an outstanding senior or graduate student who you feel is deserving of this award. Nominations may come from UCSD faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Applications can be downloaded at http://www.vcsa.ucsd.edu and are due by FRIDAY, MAY 9, 2008.
