SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – SIO Watershed Pollution Control Program

Project Description/Location:

The Project, commonly known as La Jolla Shores Area of Special Biological Significance (ASBS) Dry Weather Flow and Pollution Control Program, consists of the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) that include pollution prevention measures, treatment controls, dry weather flow diversions, and site controls to eliminate non-storm water discharges, reduce the loading of pollutants of concern, improve water quality, and protect valuable ocean resources within both ASBSs adjacent to La Jolla Shores.

Funding for this project has been provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the Clean Water State Revolving fund, through an agreement with the State Water Resources Control Board. Project partners include Miocean, San Diego Coastkeeper and the City of San Diego.

Immediate Street Impacts for Demolition and Construction Work:

Commencing on December 19 and ending January 3, the south entrance to SIO from El Paseo Grande and parking lots P002 and P003 will be closed to accommodate construction activities. This closing coincides with the University’s Winter closing. Detour signs for vehicles and pedestrian traffic will be posted.
