Comment Period: Proposed Changes to the Smoke Free Perimeter

The UC San Diego Smoke Free Policy (PPM 270-7) currently prohibits smoking in any indoor area, or within 20 feet of a doorway, entryway, operable window or ventilation intake duct to any facility. In support of the campus green building initiatives, it is proposed that the smoke-free perimeter be expanded from 20 feet to 25 feet. Expanding the perimeter to 25 feet will help UC San Diego buildings comply with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification requirements.
