ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Summer Shuttle Service

Recent increases in transit and shuttle ridership have been instrumental in reducing UC San Diego's single-occupancy vehicle commuting from 66% in 2001 to 46% in 2009. To better serve our alternative transportation users, UC San Diego Transit Operations will provide year-round service on formerly academic-year routes for the first time this summer.

Based on customer feedback and service requests, the Arriba/Nobel and Campus Loop routes will continue to run during Summer Quarter. The following route changes will be effective June 15 through September 20, 2009:

Arriba/Nobel Cityshuttles will be combined into a single route with service every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Campus Loop will operate one clockwise shuttle and one counterclockwise shuttle every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the last counterclockwise stop at Pangea at 5:30 p.m.

Coaster shuttles will maintain their usual schedule during peak morning and late afternoon periods. The combined East-West Coaster route will begin with a 9:56 a.m. Sorrento Valley departure. In the evening, the combined route will meet 5:55, 6:44 and 7:26 p.m. trains.

East/Regents service will be suspended during the summer. [Note: Reduced-price permit holders may park in the Pangea Parking Structure and lot P406 only. Parking lots P701, P703, P704 and P705 will remain open for use without shuttle service.]

Hillcrest/Campus shuttles will maintain their normal schedule.

The Mesa shuttle will run every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the last departure from Gilman at 8:45 p.m.

The Old Town shuttle will operate between 6:15 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with the first Old Town departure at 6:15 a.m. and last Hillcrest departure at 8:00 p.m.

The SIO shuttle will run a reduced schedule between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with the last departure from the SIO director's office at 6:45 p.m.
