SUBJECT:    UC Management Skills Assessment Program

The UC Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP) is designed to strengthen the engagement and preparation of UC supervisors, managers, and professionals. It offers a unique assessment center experience for early career managers and professionals which over time builds a valuable talent pipeline that assists the University in supporting upward mobility, succession planning, and deployment of talent as workforce needs unfold into the future.

The MSAP is based on extensive research in the fields of management and organizational behavior, and is comparable to other, more costly assessment programs.

The next two UC Management Skills Assessment Programs will occur on the following dates:

* October 12 - 15, 2009 with an application deadline of Thursday, July 30, 2009

* April 19 - 22, 2010 with an application deadline of Thursday, January 28, 2010

The program is held at the UCLA Conference Center at Lake Arrowhead. The fee for assessees is $925.00, and includes food and lodging for three days and two nights, a feedback assessment, and a one-year subscription to an online professional development planning tool. Staff Education and Development may be able to provide some funding to assist with the program fee for those accepted as assessees.

Staff Education and Development, a division of the Human Resources Department, coordinates the program. For the assessee application form and to read more about the Management Skills Assessment Program, go to http://www.msap.ucr.edu

I encourage you to give careful consideration to attending, or supporting your employees attending this valuable professional development experience.

Please contact Staff Education and Development at (858) 534-4890 if you need additional information.
