SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Villa La Jolla Road Closure

Because of the impact of this project to faculty, staff and students, FD&C is using this method to notify you of the following Veteran’s Affairs (VA) San Diego Healthcare project that will impact those entering and exiting campus by Villa La Jolla Drive.

Project Description/Location:

Addition of new ADA compliant sidewalk on the VA campus on Villa La Jolla Drive from the VA main entrance traffic signal to the Gilman Drive traffic signal. The approximately 450 linear ft addition will provide street accessibility and pedestrian walkway from the Gilman parking structure to the main entrance of the VA campus.

Immediate street impact for demolition and construction work:

Commencing on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 and continuing until Saturday September 12, 2009, vehicular traffic on Villa La Jolla Drive will be impacted to accommodate construction activities. The section of street between the VA Entrance and Gilman Drive traffic signals will be limited to one-way lane of traffic only. Detour pedestrian signage will be posted as necessary and a flagman will be directing traffic during this period.

If you have any questions, please contact the VA’s project engineer Walter Swasdibutra via email at walter.swasdibutra@va.gov or phone (858) 518-6843. We greatly appreciate your patience during these construction activities.
