KEY ADMINISTRATORS AND KEY SUPPORT STAFF (excluding UCSD Medical Center)
The University and the Coalition of University Employees (CUE- CX) reached agreement on December 4, 2009 regarding implementation of temporary layoffs for CX employees. The CUE Temporary Layoff Program applies to all UC San Diego Campus CX employees other than CX employees fully paid on extramural funding sources and those funds that were excluded from the salary/reduction furlough plan for policy covered staff. Employees paid partially on excluded funds will have that portion of their salary excluded from the salary reduction portion of the Temporary Layoff Program and the corresponding temporary layoff days received will be reduced accordingly. Medical Center CX employees are also excluded from this program.
The CUE Temporary Layoff Program is effective February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011. Employees subject to the program will receive a salary reduction beginning with their February earnings with the pay reduction spread evenly over 12 months regardless of when temporary layoff days are taken or employees may opt out of the regular pay period salary reductions and receive salary reductions proportionate to the number of actual layoff days that are scheduled as they occur in specific pay periods during the Temporary Layoff Program. For employees not opting out, salary reductions will be reflected in the paycheck of March 1, 2010 for monthly paid employees and in the March 3, 2010 paycheck for biweekly paid employees.
Temporary layoff days will expire if not used by December 31, 2010. CX employees must follow the same process for scheduling temporary layoff days as they use for scheduling vacation days. Scheduling temporary layoff days requires supervisory approval in advance.
