SUBJECT:    CAR FIRE HOMICIDE UPDATE

On Friday, October 29, UC San Diego Police and the San Diego Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in the campus parking lot in the 3600 block of Voigt Drive. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the body of an adult female inside the car. The San Diego County Medical Examiner subsequently determined the cause of death as homicide.

The victim has not been positively identified, but the vehicle's registered owner is a resident of Carlsbad who has been missing since Friday, October 29, 2010. San Diego Police, who are leading the investigation, now hope to speak with the woman's estranged husband.
