ACADEMIC SENATE: SAN DIEGO DIVISION

December 6, 2010

MEMBERS, SAN DIEGO DIVISION, ACADEMIC SENATE

SUBJECT:    Notice of Academic Senate Special Election

Dear Colleagues:

In accordance with Bylaws 20(C) and 115 of the San Diego Division of the Academic Senate, notice is hereby given that a Special Election is necessary to fill two vacancies in the Divisional Representatives to the Academic Assembly. The date of election will be February 11, 2011. Nominations are open for the following positions:

An unexpired term of a Divisional Representative

* This vacancy results from the resignation of Sandra Brown (Psychology). The term will be effective immediately upon election and will end August 31, 2011.

A fifth Divisional Representative

* This vacancy results from the re-apportionment of Divisional Representatives to the Academic Assembly. Because of the growth in Senate membership in the San Diego Division, the number of San Diego Divisional Representatives has increased from four to five. The term will be effective immediately upon election and will end August 31, 2012.

A Nominating Petition can be found on the Senate web page at: http://senate.ucsd.edu/

Please note that the nominee must be contacted by the Senate members signing the Petition and must have agreed to serve the appropriate term, if elected. To be valid, a Nominating Petition must be signed by five voting members of the Division and must be received in the Academic Senate Office [mail code 0002, University Center 215], no later than Monday, December 16, 2010, 4:30 p.m.

Cordially,

Joel Sobel, Vice Chair
Academic Senate, San Diego Division
