SUBJECT:    Joint Senate-Administration Task Force on University-Industry
Relations (UIR)

We are pleased to announce the formation of a Joint Senate-Administration Task Force which will broadly examine the opportunities and issues associated with university-industry partnerships including, but not limited to, incubation that includes the use of university space, consulting arrangements, intellectual property, and export control. Background and other issues to be considered may be found in the preceding 1999 report at http://research.ucsd.edu/industry/report/university_industry.pdf.

In view of the growing complexity and rapidly changing landscape of government and industrial agreements and contracts, this Task Force will provide timely and valuable advice to the campus.

The members of the Task Force are:
