Interim Director, Procurement and Contracts/Chief Procurement Officer

I am pleased to announce that Ted Johnson has agreed to become the Interim Director of Procurement and Contracts, and the Chief Procurement Officer for UC San Diego. This change is effective immediately. Ted will be working closely with Linda Collins over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition of leadership for Procurement and Contracts, as Linda transitions to her new role as Assistant Vice Chancellor, Contracts and Grants effective June 1.

Ted came to UCSD in 2006, and most recently was the Operations Director for Procurement and Contracts, responsible for leadership and oversight of strategic sourcing, central procurement, Marketplace program management office, and small business/vendor data management functions. Ted came to UCSD after fourteen years of procurement experience, and holding several management positions with Hitachi Home Electronics and Sony Electronics, most recently as the Director of Global Integrated Supply Chain for Sony. Ted is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, and holds an MBA from Tsukuba University, Japan.

Please join me in expressing our appreciation for Ted assuming these new responsibilities. We also wish Linda all the best in her new role, and we look forward to working with her in the future.
