2010 Hire-A-Youth Summer Internship Program

UC San Diego is now recruiting internship host departments for the 2010 Hire-A-Youth Summer Internship Program. The internship offers high school students a real world work experience during which a student intern has the opportunity to become a productive member of a business, develop job skills and set career goals while earning money. The students are between 16 and 20 years of age. They will have completed the eleventh grade and at least two Career Technical Education Courses with a Regional Occupational Program of Career Academy. Additionally, the students will have participated in a work readiness workshop to ensure that they are prepared to contribute as a member of a business team. The program begins June 28 and ends August 12, 2010.

Participating departments should offer a safe, supervised work environment for student interns, assist student interns in understanding specific expectations of your worksite and provide necessary training and guidance for students to perform tasks related to their career technical course study. If you decide to participate, please plan to have a representative from your department attend the Employer Orientation on campus in early June.
