SUBJECT:    Proposed Revisions to Policy and Procedure Manual 230-20, Appointment of Academic Personnel, and Policy and Procedure
Manual 230-28, Academic Advancements and Reappointments

I am pleased to submit for formal campus review proposed revisions to UCSD Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) 230-20, Appointment of Academic Personnel, and PPM 230-28, Academic Advancements and Reappointments.

The draft revisions are primarily related to the proposed creation of a “Distinguished Practitioner” series at UCSD. New sections, PPM 230-20 Section VII.A.10 and PPM 230-28 Section V.F, have been drafted, which detail the proposed criteria for appointment, advancement, and reappointment as Distinguished Practitioner.

In addition to the proposed revisions noted above, revisions to PPM 230-28, Section VII.D, Evaluation of Senate Assistant-rank Appointees, are proposed to clarify voting requirements during the readiness assessment.
