SUBJECT:	UC San Diego Staff Association’s Annual All Staff Picnic –
	Celebrating 50 years of “Achieving the Extraordinary”

On behalf of the UC San Diego Staff Association, I am pleased to invite you to the annual All Staff Picnic on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Town Square and Matthews Quad adjacent to the Student Services Building.

The picnic will be extra special this year as it will be the first of many events throughout the year that will celebrate UC San Diego’s 50th Anniversary and five decades of “Achieving the Extraordinary.”

The picnic will include a barbeque buffet, activities and entertainment, including the UCSD’s Got Talent Showcase that will feature music, new and old. A dance group will perform popular dances from the last five decades. We’ll also have information tables set up about the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the Volunteer 50 initiative and our many staff associations.

A ticket is required for the free picnic buffet. Food tickets are available through the UCSD Box Office for the first 3,600 staff members who request them. More information about the picnic may be found on Blink.

I encourage all staff to join us for this appreciation event. In order to attend the picnic, I am approving two hours of administrative leave with pay, and I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
