Effective August 1, 2010 the University of California is required to change the manner in which the race and ethnicity data of employees are collected and reported to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). The changes result from the implementation of new standards for federal agencies on the collection of racial and ethnic data adopted by the U.S. Department of Education in 2007.
As a result of the new requirements, UC personnel are to provide to employees hired on or after August 1, 2010 the new Demographic Data Transmittal Form (Form U5605 R6/10) to voluntarily self-identify their race, ethnicity, disabled status, and veteran status.
