UC San Diego Veterans Association Annual Recognition Ceremony

I am pleased to announce the Twelfth Annual UC San Diego Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony at which our faculty, staff and students will honor veterans and the men and women in our Armed Forces.

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2011, from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. in UC San Diego’s Moore’s Cancer Goldberg Auditorium. The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.

This year’s ceremony will acknowledge the dedication and contributions of our student veterans. Honored guests include Vice Chancellor of Research Affairs Sandra Brown, Psychologist and Retired Navy Commander John Sexton, and our honored guest, 2011 Veteran of the Year, Chuck Massey.

To support the Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony, I am approving one hour of administrative leave with pay. I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties or patient care.
