SUBJECT:    Proposed Revisions to Policy and Procedure Manual Section
230-7, Non-Senate Academic Appointees/Layoff and Involuntary
Reduction in Time

I am pleased to submit for formal campus review proposed revisions to UCSD Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) Section 230-7, the UCSD policy on layoffs and involuntary reductions in time for non-Senate academic appointees. The proposed revised policy and a summary of the revisions are available on the Academic Policy Development Web page at:
http://academicaffairs.ucsd.edu/aps/policydev/index.html

Click on “PPM Policies Under Review” and follow the links to these documents.

The proposed revisions reflect a significant effort to make the policy more straightforward and to provide clearer implementation guidelines. In addition, updates have been made to bring the policy into conformance with APM 145, and to merge the existing PPM 230-7 with PPM 230-9.2 (Termination of Appointment for the Adjunct Professor Series) and PPM 230-9.3 (Termination of Appointment for the Clinical Professor Series). Finally the revisions include the removal of outdated or duplicated information and non-substantive, technical editing.

If you have any comments or questions regarding the proposed revisions to PPM 230-7, please contact Kelly Lindlar, director of Academic Policy Development, Academic Personnel Services, at klindlar@ucsd.edu no later than November 28, 2011.
