ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Research Proposal Development Service

Principal Investigators planning large, interdisciplinary, or multisite proposals are encouraged to request assistance from the Research Proposal Development Service (RAPIDS) in the Office of Research Affairs. For selected proposals, RAPIDS can work with PIs and academic units to:

- Review calls-for-proposals and advise PIs on meeting solicitation-specific requirements.

- Assist with coordination among proposal contributors.

- Provide in-depth editorial review to improve readability and strengthen rationale.

- Provide guidance on the preparation of required proposal components pertaining to, for example, documentation of collaborations, data management, dissemination of results, program evaluation, and enhancement of diversity.

Please visit the RAPIDS website http://rapids.ucsd.edu/ for more information on services offered, eligibility for these services, instructions for submitting requests for assistance, and the process by which requests are prioritized. A list of competitions for which RAPIDS has provided assistance can be found at http://rapids.ucsd.edu/success.html

In addition to direct proposal development assistance, RAPIDS provides a growing collection of resources to help PIs address common funding agency requirements. These resources can be found at http://rapids.ucsd.edu/resources.html

For additional information, please contact Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Initiatives Paul Yu (pyu@ucsd.edu; x43539) and Director of RAPIDS Sharon Franks (sfranks@ucsd.edu; x23452).
