Subject:    Required Password Change

The IT Security and Privacy Council has provided us with information that leads us to believe that current network intrusion attempts could compromise passwords associated with our campus information systems. As a preventative measure to help avoid unauthorized access to our information systems, we will implement a process that will require you to change your Active Directory (AD) password. The AD password allows access to campus services including email, wireless networking, virtual private networking (VPN) and other related systems.

In order to avoid disconnection of access to campus resources, you must change your AD password by September 12, 2012.

Instructions to change your password before the deadline are available on the campus Blink portal, and are searchable using the phrase "Campus-wide Password Reset". Note--we are deliberately not providing a link to that page so this message does not appear to be phishing email.

If you have any questions regarding this request, or need assistance please contact the campus IT Security office (security@ucsd.edu) or call the ACT Help Desk at 858-534-1853.
