ALL STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO (including UC San Diego Health System)

SUBJECT:    Excellence in Stewardship Awards

As many of our donors, volunteers and ambassadors have taught us, relationships between our university and the community are built and sustained by staff and faculty who respect and care about our supporters and understand the importance of helping them realize the impact of their gifts.

Excellent stewardship of our supporters is priceless to UC San Diego because it is imperative that we show our appreciation, keep them engaged, and report back to them the positive impact that they have on the university's success. Thus, for a second year, we would like to recognize those who make stewardship a priority.

Earlier this year, Dr. Nigella Hillgarth of Birch Aquarium at Scripps and Debbie Soldano, RN, of the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center were recognized with the inaugural Excellence in Stewardship Awards. They were nominated by peers who took a few moments to tell our committee about the important outreach they do every day to ensure that our donors are aware of the impact of their charitable giving at UC San Diego.

The UC San Diego Foundation's Stewardship Committee (comprised of several of our top donors and volunteers) will again recognize UC San Diego employees who are demonstrating excellent results in stewarding our donors and supporters, through the annual Excellence in Stewardship Awards.

I encourage you to nominate your co-workers. Any UC San Diego employee, UC San Diego Foundation Board Trustee or campus volunteer who is familiar with the individual may nominate for the Staff category, or the Faculty or Campus Leadership category.

You can access additional information and a nomination form online at http://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/donor-relations/stew-awards.html. Please submit your nominations to Lynsey Buerer via email at lbuerer@ucsd.edu or through campus mail at MC 0937. Nominations are due by January 15, 2014.

Awardees will be selected by the UC San Diego Foundation's Stewardship Committee and notified in February. Awards will be presented at the UC San Diego Foundation's annual dinner in June.

Questions regarding the award program may be directed to Lynsey Buerer at lbuerer@ucsd.edu or at (858) 534-1028. Thank you all for your good efforts to steward our supporters and to continue building a culture of philanthropy at UC San Diego.
