ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    UC San Diego's 7th annual Asian and Pacific Islander American Celebration, May 2013

During the month of May, UC San Diego will celebrate Asian-Pacific Islander American Heritage Month with numerous campus events focused on community and wellness. Events range from lectures and a luau to an award-winning documentary and presentation on the Khmer Rouge with Dr. Sophal Ear on May 10. For the full calendar of events, visit http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/apia.

In recognition of this annual event, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved so that employees may participate in a UC San Diego Asian and Pacific Islander American celebration activity. Supervisors are asked to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

We thank the members of the planning committee for their work in coordinating these educational and celebratory campus activities. We hope you'll join us and our campus community in honoring the legacy and contributions of Asian and Pacific-Islander Americans.
