SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT - Blake Hall Fire & Life Safety Project

Project Description/Location:

Renovation of Blake Hall will start the week of July 1, 2013. The building is located west of Revelle Plaza and north of Argo Hall. While updating the fire and life safety system of this 1968 structure to current standards, the renovation will also include restoration of the building exterior, updated interior finishes, and the reconstruction of the courtyard using sustainable practices. The renovation will occur during the summer and is anticipated to be complete in early September 2013.

Immediate Developments:

A construction fence will enclose all sides of Blake Hall and the northwest corner of Revelle Plaza will be used for construction mobilization. Although the north and east sides of Blake Hall will be closed to pedestrian access, the south and west sides of the building will not be impacted. Occasional disruptions may occur on the west side of Galbraith Hall to facilitate construction vehicles and material deliveries. The road north of Blake Hall and west of Urey Hall may be used for as a secondary loading area, if needed.
