UC San Diego Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Issues is actively seeking new faculty and staff members. The CAC GISOI was formed in 1994 and comprises representatives appointed by the Chancellor from members of faculty, staff, and students at UC San Diego.
The Committee's charge is to identify and analyze issues relating to the lesbian gay bisexual transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community at UC San Diego, including faculty, staff, and students; to work with all departments to address policy and procedures that would affect the LGBTI community; to inform and educate the UC San Diego community about conditions affecting the LGBTI community in their areas; and to advise and make recommendations to the Chancellor regarding policies and procedures that will enhance the equality of the LGBTI community at UC San Diego.
Selection criteria for candidates include: demonstrated support of the UC San Diego Principles of Community; willingness to serve on the Committee on the Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Issues for a two-year term; the ability to serve at least 5 hours a quarter to attend full committee and subcommittee meetings; and sensitivity to issues of gender and diversity. The CAC GISOI meets the fourth Wednesday of each quarter from 2:00-3:30 p.m.; once each summer for 5 hours; and as needed in sub committees.
