CAMPUS RESOURCE PLANNING INITIATIVES September 12, 2014
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
We are pleased to announce that the Gilman Transit Center will become operational on September 15, 2014. This new transportation resource for the UC San Diego community includes dedicated bike lanes, larger queuing areas, and bus turnouts that allow for easier flow of traffic around buses and shuttles. An enhanced network of Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) buses will be served as well as North County Transit District (NCTD) buses. Routes will include:
· MTS Routes 30, 41, 150 and 921 All temporary MTS stops along Gilman Drive will be removed. The transit center will also begin serving campus shuttles starting September 29, the first day of Fall Quarter. Shuttles will include:
· Arriba/Nobel Until then, shuttle riders should continue using the temporary shuttle stops on Gilman Drive near Mandeville Lane. Please go to: http://blink.ucsd.edu/facilities/transportation/shuttles/ for a campus shuttle map and information on live tracking. In an effort to serve the campus community as quickly as possible, and minimize the impact of construction, some additional elements of the Gilman Transit Center project will be phased in over the next few months. These elements will significantly enhance riders’ experience and include shade canopies, permanent lighting, guardrails and landscape improvements. The Gilman Transit Center was constructed, and predominantly funded, by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) as part of the SuperLoop Project Plan.
