CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR

February 12, 2015

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO (excluding UC San Diego Health System)

SUBJECT:    2015 UC San Diego United Way Campaign

Please join me in supporting the 2015 UC San Diego United Way Campaign.

This year's theme is "Be the Spark That Helps Every Child Succeed." This theme is appropriate because each of us can help spark community action that elevates every child and family toward a brighter future by contributing to our Campaign. I am a strong supporter of this cause, and I encourage you to join your UC San Diego colleagues as we help individuals and families in the San Diego community, many of whom have a desperate need for the services offered by the United Way agencies. Supporting United Way through the UC San Diego Campaign offers the opportunity to make an important difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Your gift this year will help to support various community programs including those that will:

* Improve school readiness and early-grade literacy for children

* Increase financial self-sufficiency for struggling families and youth

* Improve community health for youth, families and the homeless

The UC San Diego United Way Campaign will commence today and will run through Friday, April 10, 2015. You also may contribute beyond that date. I encourage you to visit the UC San Diego United Way Campaign website at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/unitedway. You can make your pledge using the UC San Diego web-based pledge application. The instructions and application package along with a list of UC San Diego recipient agencies can be found on this website. Please request a form from your Department Coordinator if you prefer to use a paper-based pledge form. Your Department Coordinator's contact information can be found at:

I am proud of UC San Diego's prior campaign successes, and I applaud those of you who have volunteered your time, energy and financial resources to this cause. For this year's Campaign to succeed, each of us must become involved and act with our heart's compassion.

Questions about the Campaign may be directed to the Campaign Chair, Tonia Snee at (858) 822-5390 or tsnee@ucsd.edu.

On behalf of the United Way of San Diego County and the many people who will benefit from your contributions, I thank you for your continued support.
