ALL STAFF AND NON-SENATE ACADEMIC EMPLOYEES
(excluding UC San Diego Health System)

SUBJECT:    Staff Advisor to The Regents - 2015-2017 Application Period

The UC Staff Advisor program, instituted in 2005-2006, is intended to allow The Regents to benefit from hearing staff and non-Senate academic employee perspectives on relevant matters that come before Regents' committees and the Board.

Under the program, the current Staff Advisor Designate will serve as Staff Advisor in 2015-2016. The newly selected Staff Advisor Designate will attend all Open session Regents' meetings. Each year, the Advisors will be invited to attend certain other UC events, including Regents' campus visits as well as other activities related to their role as Advisors. The current Advisors are serving two-year staggered terms. One of the incumbent's term will end July 1, 2015 and the other will end July 1, 2016. The incoming Staff Advisor will serve a two-year term beginning July 1, 2015.

All eligible UC staff and non-Senate academic employees who are interested in serving as the 2015-2017 Staff Advisor Designate to The Regents may apply through Friday, March 6, 2015 at 5:00 pm. The Staff Advisor Designate will be selected from all eligible UC staff and non-Senate academic employees by President Napolitano in consultation with the Chairman of the Board of Regents.

Further information about the Staff Advisor Program, the application form, a complete explanation of eligibility and the application and selection process, and information on the role and responsibilities of the Staff Advisor, can be found under "How to Apply" at:

http://staffadvisors.universityofcalifornia.edu/welcome.html

When reviewing the eligibility criteria, please interpret the "exceeds expectations" performance level to mean the same as the UC San Diego performance rating of "above expectations" for staff employees or equivalent to performance that supports academic advancement for non-Senate academic employees.

Questions regarding the Staff Advisor position or the application process should be directed to Juliann Martinez, UC Office of the President Employee Relations, at (510) 287-3331 or via e-mail to Juliann.Martinez@ucop.edu.
