Please welcome Steph Barry (BA ’94) Assistant Vice Chancellor, Alumni & Community Engagement

Following a comprehensive nationwide search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Steph Barry, BA ’94, as Assistant Vice Chancellor, Alumni & Community Engagement, effective January 29, 2016.

Ms. Barry joins UC San Diego Advancement following her 13-year tenure at WD-40 Company, where she most recently served as Vice President for Strategic Projects. As Vice President, she reported directly to the CEO, leading a global project of significant (over $200M) impact to the business. In this role, she took advantage of her ability to work cross-regionally and cross-functionally at a C-level to deliver enterprise-wide short- and long-term revenue and profit.

Steph’s extensive leadership experience also includes service as Vice President, Asia, in a role focused on driving growth and profitability of the Asia region, overseeing more than 20 countries, one regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and one wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai, China. I am confident that you will find in her the guidance and leadership necessary to inspire, grow and foster continued success for UC San Diego.

Ms. Barry received her Bachelor of Science, Political Science, from UC San Diego and we are so pleased to welcome her home. She also received her Master of International Business from the University of San Diego. We look forward to her return to campus and to the extensive expertise, vision and leadership she will bring to this critical role. I also want to thank the Senior Management Team, Jerrilyn Malana, Matt Newsome, Robert Brownlie, Sheldon Engelhorn, Suzi Sterner, Carol Padden, Bill Mcginnis, Andrea Davidson, Melissa Santarcangelo and Grace Baker who guided the search process and organized and conducted the interviews to help us arrive at this result.
