SUBJECT:    UC-Wide Statement of Principles Against Intolerance

The UC Board of Regents has convened a Working Group to draft a UC-wide Statement of Principles Against Intolerance to address acts of bigotry and discrimination that may occur on UC campuses. In developing the statement, the Working Group is seeking input from experts on topics including the First Amendment, academic freedom, anti-Semitism, campus climate, and intolerance.

The UC Student Regent has asked each UC campus to seek the input of students concerning the potential statement of principles. Your input may cover topics such as the value of having a statement, particular forms of bias and intolerance that should be covered by the statement, and the best way to make the statement inclusive.

If you would like to submit input, email principles@ucsd.edu by January 15, 2016. In the subject line write “Comment to Working Group on Statement of Principles Against Intolerance.” Because your response will be forwarded to the Working Group, include only the information you want to share. Your email address and signature block will be removed, but no other portion of your response will be redacted.
