ALL ACADEMICS AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:   Nominations for Leaders for Equity Advancement and Diversity
(LEAD) Fellows

We invite you to submit nominations for the second year of the LEAD Fellows program administered through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. LEAD Fellows are campus champions who engage and lead crucial conversations around improving organizational learning and campus climate.

LEAD Fellows support and advance UC San Diego’s Strategic Plan goal of cultivating a diverse and inclusive university community that encourages respectful, open dialogue and challenges itself to take bold actions that will ensure learning is accessible to all. Fellows receive extensive training to provide leadership and to ensure diversity and excellence across campus.

LEAD Fellows are expected to

  1. Attend the following:
    1. A four-hour Orientation on December 12th from 8 am–12 pm; and
    2. Eight two-hour training sessions on Thursdays from 9 am–11 am on January 12 and 26, February 9 and 23, March 9, April 6 and 20, and May 4.
  2. One-year commitment after training, with quarterly ongoing development sessions.
  3. Ongoing conversation and leadership in educational opportunities across campus.
At the end of the LEAD Fellowship, participants will be versed in the theory and practice of equity, diversity, and inclusion and be equipped to support and champion strategic equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives in their departments/divisions and throughout UC San Diego.

Applications are available at http://diversity.ucsd.edu/policies-and- initiatives/LEAD/. Individuals may apply directly, or may be nominated by their supervisor. To nominate an individual, email the name and contact information of the nominee to vcedi@ucsd.edu. Preference will be given to those employees whose positions are covered by the Management and Senior Professional (MSP) personnel program.

Administrative leave with pay has been approved so that employees may participate in this important campus-wide initiative. Supervisors are asked to allow employees to participate, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

We appreciate your nominations for UC San Diego Leaders for Equity Advancement and Diversity (LEAD) Fellows.
