ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO (EXCLUDING HEALTH SCIENCES)

SUBJECT:    Zoom Audio, Video, and Web Conferencing Service

We are pleased to announce the launch of Zoom - a best-in-class audio and videoconferencing tool selected by the University of California to replace ReadyTalk. IT Services is offering Zoom campus-wide at no charge to departments, saving our ReadyTalk users a total of $230,000 a year and eliminating the current chargeback process.

ReadyTalk account holders are encouraged to obtain a Zoom account and begin using the service in lieu of ReadyTalk. Staff without a ReadyTalk account who require audio and video conference services can also obtain a Zoom account.

Zoom accounts come in 2 versions-Basic and Pro. Basic accounts have all the same features of the Pro account except your meetings are limited to 40 minutes.

To request a Pro account:

1. Sign in to Zoom using SSO (AD or Business Systems) to provision yourself as a Basic user

2. Fill out the Pro request form to upgrade to a Pro account (only UCSD faculty and staff are eligible for a Pro account. Students can obtain a Basic account.)
