ALL FACULTY AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Faculty Participation at All Campus Commencement

We invite all UC San Diego faculty to participate in All Campus Commencement, which will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, at RIMAC Field. For the first time in 16 years, UC San Diego will hold an All Campus Commencement; the ceremony will unite the Class of 2016 as a community and include the conferral of degrees by academic division for an anticipated 8,000 graduating students. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and founder of the global microfinance movement, will serve as keynote speaker.

We encourage faculty to participate in this important milestone for our graduating students. Faculty play a significant role in students’ academic careers, and surveys conducted during the strategic planning process show that students identify close contact with faculty as one of the keys to a better, stronger student experience. A prominent faculty showing will send a strong message to our students about our commitment to their academic journey.

Faculty attendees will receive complimentary commencement regalia, and will also be included in a pre-commencement platform breakfast reception with keynote speaker Muhammad Yunus. For more information on faculty participation at All Campus Commencement and to RSVP, contact Mimi Koh at m1koh@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-3131.

We look forward to your engagement in our All Campus Commencement, as it will contribute immensely to making the ceremony special and memorable for our graduating students and their families.
